(just like your skin)

The most critical advice from a dermatologist for beginners starting their skincare journey is to keep it SIMPLE.
So grab your favorite mug of tea or coffee, and let’s explore the basics of simple skincare for beginners.
WHAT IS A BASIC AND SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR BEGINNERS?
A basic and straightforward skincare routine refers to the essential steps that every beginner needs to include in their skincare routine to achieve glowing skin. This routine doesn’t have to look like an uphill battle so that you’re already overwhelmed even before starting it. I made that mistake.
When I started, I researched to make a skincare routine involving ten steps, which I now think was useless. When you begin, all you need is a cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and a lip balm, that’s it.
The three simple steps in a skincare routine that you must notice are- Cleansing, moisturizing, and sunscreen. And yes, trust me, you will even have that aesthetic skincare routine once you have understood the skincare game better.
Let me break this to you(I had to:)) Skincare routine not only involves using the product, It also needs a lot of patience, consistency, and product testing, which is usually silent!
So say goodbye to unnecessary steps and products and hello to an easy-to-follow yet effective skincare routine that will leave you wondering why you didn’t start sooner.
WHAT IS THE GOLDEN RULES FOR SKINCARE ROUTINE?
Although there are hundreds of golden rules for perfect skincare, I am only telling you the ones that you will need at the first step of your journey:
MOISTURISE, MOISTURIZE, AND MOISTURIZE:
Yes, girl, Moisturizer is something you can never leave your home without. And you have to moisturize at least twice a day.
DOUBLE CLEANSE:
Double cleanse is your thing if you wear makeup often. This means cleaning your face with an oil-based cleanser and then a water-based. It will help you remove stubborn impurities from your skin.
SUNSCREEN:
Sunscreen is your best friend; mark my words now. You have to see her even when you’re at home and every two hours. THAT’S THE MINIMUM, okay!
6 ESSENTIAL STEPS FOR SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR BEGINNERS
Here are six essential steps that you need to have in your simple skincare routine for beginners:
1. CLEANSE
Cleansing is the first and crucial part of the skincare routine. The cleansing dosage is twice daily- one in the morning right after you wake up and another in the night when you’re going to sleep. In the morning, cleaning your face is important because it will help you remove the debris and the dead skin cells produced during sleep.
However, at night, It helps clean the bacteria and the impurities accumulated on your skin throughout the day. But if you don’t cleanse your face, what will happen? Your skin will become more vulnerable to breakout, and the untreated and harmful bacteria can grow, causing infections.
If you don’t know which cleanser to start, I suggest a gentle and hydrating one, just like Cetaphil or Cera Ve, because these are suitable for all skin types.
2. EXFLOITATE
Exploiting means removing dead skin cells from your skin that were left during your cleansing. Sometimes, the dead cells of the skin don’t shed themselves (I guess they might love you) so exfoliating is the way to remove them. If you’re not exploring, It can result in dry, flaky patches and clogged pores.
Moreover, exfoliating can help you have fewer breakouts by cleaning your pores internally with no unwanted depositions on your skin. Now, what if you’re exploring too much? Over-exfoliation can lead to redness and irritation and may leave the skin worse than you could have.
A dermatologist suggests the safe exploitation of your skin is twice a week, not every day. Exploitation can be done either physically or chemically. Physical exfoliation involves a product such as a scrub or brush to remove dead skin cells physically.
However, Chemical exfoliation uses chemicals, such as alpha and beta hydroxy acids, that gently dissolve dead skin cells. Choose your exploitation wisely, depending on your skin type. Mechanical exploits will be best for oily skin types; chemical exploits will be a better option for acne-prone skin types.
3. TONE
The next step is toning your skin. You can use a mild toner every day, or you can even skip them in your daily routine, but I would prefer to use them on alternating days. Toners are meant to make your skin look fresh and prepare your skin to absorb any subsequent products.
It also seals the open pores that were opened during cleansing and exploitation. On the top of it, it makes your skin happy and glowing. Toners are responsible for protecting your skin from environmental stressors such as dust.
It’s the same as your exfoliator: choosing your toner depending on your skin type. As a beginner, I suggest you use rose water as your natural toner, and you will never regret it(as I have been using it to date).
4. TREAT
Treating skin conditions is another significant part of your skincare routine. Different skin problems require different kinds of products and serums to treat them. If you have any underlying skin problem, starting a skincare routine is not the solution.
Instead, consult a doctor and get your problem treated. If you’re a beginner and need to decide which serum or cream to use, it’s better to use it with knowledge. Remember, half-cooked knowledge is always dangerous.
5. MOISTURISE
Moisturizing is essential for all skin types, irrespective of any. Moisturizing helps you to look your skin hydrated, healthy, and plummy. Moisturizing your skin at least twice daily is essential with an oil and fragrance-free moisturizer. Surprisingly, studies show that moisturizers can help fight acne and prevent dryness on your skin.
It can also help your skin look young! Moreover, one can see your blemishes and wrinkles, so it’s a win-win, right? I would prefer you should use Cetaphil moisturizer because I have been using it for years and love the product.
6. SUNCREEN
Ahh, I am tired now. So are you? Don’t worry—it’s the last step! Sunscreen is the most critical step in your skincare routine. Don’t even try to miss it. Sunscreen helps protect your skin from harmful UV rays by being a protective layer.
Along with that, It can even prevent your skin from premature aging, making you look young. If you live in countries like Canada, where sun rays are concentrated, sunscreen will lower the risk of skin cancer.
Moreover, It will keep your skin complexion even- not darker or lighter on one side. I am using sunscreen from the brand Neutrogena it never fails to protect me from the sun’s rays 🙂
Remember, the key to healthier, happier skin is not in complicated routines but in consistency and understanding the basics. Start your skincare journey today, and you’ll thank yourself tomorrow for the glowing, vibrant skin that awaits you.
